DiamondMax Plus 8 blends performance and value in an ATA hard drive. This drive is the perfect combination for the mainstream consumer or commercial user. Offered in various capacities, the DiamondMax Plus 8 is equipped with fluid dynamic bearing motors. This technology minimizes the noise of the drive, which is especially important in personal video recorder applications. This fast performer at 7200 RPM and fast Ultra ATA 133 interface is the most reliable and robust single-head/single platter hard drive on the market.

Pros: Um, er, well, uh, nice and shiny looking?
Cons: Slow, unreliable, unpredictable, noisy.
I know nothing about computers, and when buying my last one, found that I had this Maxtor hard drive in it. Is it responsible for all these freezing programs, slow computing, noise, system failure, etc.? As I read on, it apparently is. This may be good (I was disgusted to see how cheap it is to buy, compared to the amount I spent on my computer), as a back-up unit, but certainly not for someone who is serious about computing. The 40gigs may be ok for my small needs, but, in this day and age, it fills up rather quickly and becomes even slower in the process. It's horrifically noisy, and runs rather hot, as well, so fans are blasting away all the time. It's not terribly reliable (I hope it's not reading what I'm saying about it, as I'm walking on eggshells with it already...), seems to boot up differently each time it starts, and is only meant for a complete novice.
