Pros: Lightweight, powerful, comfortable, sturdy.

Cons: Doesn't do the job for you. You have to pull the trigger.

The Bottom Line:
Great lightweight drill that has power to complete most of your task, and is very comfortable to use for a long time.

If you are here at epinions looking at this review, you are probabally considering purchasing this drill.  You might already know the specs, but just to state them again, here they are:
The DF030DW weighs just 1.9 pounds and is powered by Makita's 10.8V Ultra-Compact Lithium-Ion Battery and the ENERGY STAR rated Makita Charger.  What that translates to is that you get some great usage out of your battery, and when it becomes exhausted, before you can use up your second battery, your first is already charged again.  I estimate the charge time to be around 10-15 minutes.  It could be a little longer, but not by much at all.

The DF030DW is powered by a Makita-built variable speed motor that delivers 200 in.lbs. of Max Torque and 0-350/0-1,300 RPM, with 18 clutch settings for added precision and control. This is a great feature if you screwing light bolts or nuts.  The 200 in.lbs. of torque is impressive.  I can drive a 2 1/2" wood screw through a 2x4 and burry it into the wood no problem.  So the torque setting does have it's place depending on what your using it for.

The driver-drill weighs just 1.9 pounds with an L.E.D. light to illuminate the drilling surface, and an ergonomic grip that that feels like it was made around your hand.  It is very easy to control, easy to use in awkward positions, and the light is great, with a neat little fade-out feature when not in use.  I use it as my screw gun to undo sheet metal off of Gas Drive welders.  I use to use an air gun, but the air hose would sometimes get in the way.  This even has a nice holster, that the drill fits great into, and easy to get out.  Very convienent for those that use it often.

I honestly cannot state a bad thing about this drill.  The lightweight, comfort and power it has for the size, you couldn't ask for anything more.  My only regret is that I would of gotten the combo.  I purchased mine for $149 when it first came out at Home Depot.  About 2 months later I saw the Combo with the regular drill and the impact drill at Costco for $159.  I thought about taking it back, but I really only use the impact part for my work.

The drill seems to be very durable as well.  I have dropped it several times, once from a 6ft ladder, and it still goes like nothing ever happened.  Perhaps it landed just right, but still, it is not a piece of cheap junk.  If your task doesn't require 18v, and light weight impact drilling, this is your drill.  I enjoy using, and look forward to occasions around the house as well when I can pull it out.
