Pros: Small, lightweight, no charger needed, no software needed, simple to use, includes flash
Cons: No zoom, 1.3 megapixel, no picture preview, memory not expandable, no advanced features
The Bottom Line:
If you want an inexpensive, lightweight, barebones digital camera, pick this. If you want anything more than the basic ability to take web-quality (not print-quality) photos, look elsewhere.
I'm not big into photography. I'm the type of person who drags a photo on vacation, feeling obligated to take pictures, but seldom having a real interest in doing so. And when I do have an interest, my camera is usually buried at the bottom of a backpack or somewhere similarly inconvenient, and it seems too much of a pain to dig out. I've used digital cameras, standard cameras, and those disposable one-time-use cameras, and for the pictures I take, I've been fine with them -- when I use them. I never print out photos, I just put them (stripped down in size) on the web.
Which is why, thus far, the pocket camera has been great for me! It honestly does fit in a pocket, being about the size and weight of a pack of playing cards. Now, the camera is really bare bones. There's a flash, and a way to pick between low and high detail images (with high detail being only 1.3 megapixel, so don't count on printing these photos out. I've used it both outside and inside and the photos are fine, though. It's like what I'd get on a disposable one-use Kodak camera. So no zoom, no picture preview, no expandable memory, no movies, it's pretty much as bare bones a digital camera as it can be. But hey, if you're like me, that's really all you need.
Having used it for about a week I'm pretty happy with the size and quality of what I have, though obviously I can't speak to long-term usage and how that holds up. I love that it's small and light. I love that I don't have to install software to download photos. I love that I don't have to lug a charger around. I love that it easily fits into a pocket, making it much, much more likely that I'll actually take pictures. If you're like me, it's just about perfect.
Search around for bargains on the camera. At 1.3 megapixel it's pretty outdated, so I was about to find a refurbished model for only $35. For me, that's a real bargain, and my only regret is that I haven't gotten this earlier.
