NIFTY 1st Web/Digital Camera

Author's Rating: Rating: 3/5 stars

Pros: PRICE, PIC QUALITY, DUAL WEBCAM & DIGITAL CAMERA, INSTANT PICTURES UPLOAD TO YOUR PC

Cons: NO FLASH, NO XTRA-MEMORY, BAD PICS IN LOW LIGHT, EASY TO LOSE PICS TAKEN

The Bottom Line:
Buy for a first time digital or webcam if over $20.00 don't buy it. Definitely fun to play around with and make your own video when attached to the pc.

Author's Review
I bought this camera on Amazon for 25.00 used including shipping. IF you can find this camera cheap it's a great buy, otherwise, pass on it.

I checked and it retails on the Manufacturer's website for $79.99 and it's definitely not worth that much.

This would make a great first camera and its also a pretty great webcam. I've had an Eztronics and also bought one of those regular logitechs you find at Office Depot and this camera as a webcam actually has better picture quality.

LONG LIST OF PROS:

----- General
1. Fairly inexpensive so you really don't worry about breaking it.
2. Really easy to use, basically a point and shoot
3. Extremely easy to use (and interesting) software package comes with it. You can record videos (and if you have a microphone then w/sound) and also individual pictures. However see Con's regarding General for more comments.
------ Digital Camera Options
4. Easy to upload the images, if you've taken pictures and then reconnect it to your pc, it automatically detects them and you need only do a quick click and they get uploaded to your computer.
5. The picture options are really good something like 40 max. quality pics or 160 okay quality pictures. I only ever used the 40.
6. The picture quality was really good for such an inexpensive camera
7. There is a mini-video function available (I never used it though)
------- Webcam Options
8. The base it uses as a webcam is very sturdy and it allows for lots of flexibility in pointing the camera where you want.
9. Great picture quality for a webcam, better than 2 other's I've tried

LONG LIST OF CONS:

---------- General
1. Software package included has several functions that no longer work. For example: Create Your own Create a Web Cam and Broadcast Live Video (as their service partner went belly up).
2. If you take any pictures and the batteries fall out or go dead (they fell out of mine, because the little latch is plastic and not well manufactured), YOU WILL LOSE ALL OF YOUR PICTURES.
3. No Pre-view Picture screen on the camera, so you have to guess if you got the picture right. But, since this is the same way it is with a disposable or cheap 35mm, no biggie
4. No Outside memory. Memory is internal so you are stuck with what you get, no adding memory or removing cards to be able to take more pictures.
5. No flash so you have to take pictures in a well lit area (though I was able to take a few good pics in my livingroom, shear shades drawn and no lights on and they came out okay).

Overall, I say this is a good first digital camera, but certainly not an adult camera, because you'll get bored or frustrated quick.
