Navigator was available either with rear-wheel drive or Fords Control Trac 4-wheel-drive system, which could be left engaged on dry pavement. Automatic self-leveling air-ride shock absorbers went at front and rear on 4x4s, but rear-only on 2WD Navigators. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes were standard either way. A 3-place, third-row bench seat was installed. A 3-place split middle bench was available at no cost, to expand seating capacity from seven to eight. Towing capacity was 8000 pounds--thats right, a hefty four tons. Sole engine was the larger of Expeditions two V8s: a 5.4-liter, rated at 230 horsepower. Navigators got a special post-assembly inspection, plus a 25-mile preshipment road test. Rivals included the GMC Yukon/Denali, Land Rover Range Rover, and Toyota Land Cruiser.

The Bottom Line:
Bottom line, if your like me who loves cars, and if gas is not a problem, then go out and get it.
When i first spotted the Lincoln Navigator 2001, i was so amazed. I never seen something so big and so luxurious before. And i always thought that Lincoln made only towncards, and sedans but never a SUV before, at least not this size so i was very curious how it felt behind the wheel so i took a test drive and it felt good. With this vehicle you can get a clear site of the road ahead, my 2001 navigator also features Signal mirrors which are a big help when changing lanes in stormy weather. Alot of people say that the navigator is hard to control on the road when its raining hard outside, but it was pretty easy for me. I have always have pride in cars, and will always be. And i also have pride that i own this fabulous SUV. This is a must if you have a big family or the need for speed on the giant monster so called Lincoln Navigator. I sure love it and i'm glad i bought it right off the dealer.
