Pros: 4800 X 1200 dpi, Fast!
Cons: my cat likes to lie on it all the time...other than that, none
The Bottom Line:
I love this printer!
I bought this printer a few months ago. I absolutely love it.
System Requirements
Supports:
Microsoft Windows XP (All versions)
Microsoft Windows Me
Microsoft Windows 2000 (all versions)
Microsoft Windows 98 (All versions)
For Windows 98 and ME you will need at least 64 MB of ram and 75 megs of hard drive space.
And for Windows 2000 and XP, you will need at least 128 MB of Ram and about 300 MB of hard drive space.
You will also need a USB port.
Installation
Installation was easy. The biggest problem I had was that I miscalculated and bought a 6 foot USB cord when I should have gotten something longer.
The ink supply lasts forever it seems. I've printed out 100's of pages of text and I still have black ink. The resolution is 4800X1200 dpi and the pics are amazing on Photo paper.
I've come across printers where just getting the ink cartridges in properly was a nightmare. But with this one, it was so simple. There are little compartments inside....you just lift up the little lid, and plop it right down in there! Its fool proof!
It comes with Fotoslate software.
Two Paper Trays
The 2 paper trays are great. No changing paper constantly from plain to photo. You could even load envelopes into one tray and regular paper into the other, send both jobs to the printer and just walk away and let it take care of it for you.
Paper Tray 1 has a Precision Sense Technology and automatically adjusts the Paper Type in the your printer software. Paper tray 2 does not, so these adjustments will have to be made by you.
Memory Card Reader
It has four slots and supports the following:
* CompactFlash I & II
* IBM Microdrive
* Secure Digital
* MultiMedia Card
* Memory Stick
* Smartmedia
Printing
After sending something to the printer, a Printing Status box will appear on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.
This box shows you ink levels, the number of pages to be printed, and the percentage completed.
It also has voice notification. It will tell you when the printing has started, has been completed, and when there is a problem.
You can turn these features off if you choose, change the looks of the Status box, or even change the voice.
The output is great. I love the look of the pictures when they come out.
Speed
I'd say its pretty darn fast.
21 pages per minute black
15 pages per minute color
Overall
I love this printer. I find it to be extremely reliable and havent found anything I dislike about it.
This printer is capable of being networked...but I havent done that yet.
