Fun and Easy Printing

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: 4 different digital camera media slots, incredible image for the price, bundled software

Cons: clunky loading the page

The Bottom Line:
Gotta love that "drop in your digital camera memory card and go" feature! Pretty good printing for the money.

Author's Review
The first thing I printed was on photographic paper using the bundled software. I was impressed with the ease of use -- I never once looked at the manual -- and the image quality. You could hardly tell the difference between the store-developed photo and the one I printed from their CD.

I've had a number of ink-jet printers over the years, never willing to stray from Canon, but I'm fast becoming a LexMark fan. Being able to print 11 x 17 would be a big bonus, but sadly that's a feature that's hard to find these days in any printer.

My biggest complaint is the noise it makes when loading the paper. It clunks a lot. Still, I don't think it's ever really jammed, but the edges of the paper have been torn once or twice. There has never been a problem with photographic paper which is good because that stuff is expensive!

It's not difficult to save your preferences for future use and the bundled software makes it easy to drag and drop images for specific photo sizes such as 4 up on 4 x 6 photo paper, etc.

Also, because it uses a USB port you can have it connected to your computer as well as a serial printer. I LOVE not having to switch back and forth or using a switch box.

Perhaps the best feature is the 4 different types of digital camera memory card slots. From SmartMedia to Flashcard, just plug the media into place and print or save.

The printer is all black except the buttons and digital memory card slots which are silver. When the paper is removed, the paper holders fold down to keep dust from getting inside the printer. So far, it's been "low to no" maintenance.

If you're a professional graphic artist you'll probably pass on this printer. If you're a proud grandparent anxious to print off the newest pictures you received in your e-mail, you'll be thrilled with the quality for the price you paid.
