Pros: small size external power stackable nature hard power switch! GREAT price
Cons: external power supply occasional buzzing
i'm a mac user - it works great for me. I've had one 160 and one 250 (had the 250 for almost a year now). i only use firewire so this drive is a-ok with me.
i hear there's something like a 30% failure rate on external lacie HDs, but who knows. i treat mine well and they work effortlessly. my friends haven't had such good luck - i think a D2 has died on everybody who has one, and one friend's porsche came... funky... not working right... but it was replaced and all has been well)
actually, the 250 has been carried around quite a bit... never any problem. just what a hard drive should be.
the external power supply is a curse and a blessing - keeps heat down but is bulky for carrying. it makes the drive nice and tiny to fit on your desk or on top of a computer. and if it dies it's easier to replace than an internal one.
oh - sometimes it buzzes on the surface it's on, so I keep it on top of a piece of fabric.
