With 14 grind settings and a precision milling system, this electric coffee mill grinds coffee beans to any fineness without overheating them and spoiling their full flavor and aroma. Two ranges of grind settings are marked: one for fine grinds suitable for espresso and Turkish-style coffee, and the other for coarser grinds suitable for drip machines, French presses, and percolators. Selecting a grind requires only a twist of the ring under the coffee-bean container, which holds 8 ounces of beans and can be removed for cleaning. The ground-coffee container is permanently attached for convenience and has a rounded bottom to facilitate scooping. There's a timer dial calibrated by the number of cups desired, so the grinder uses only the amount of beans immediately needed. A measuring spoon (for 1 cup coffee) is included. The mill has cord storage underneath and carries a one-year warranty against defects.

Reliable and Messy!

Pros: consistent grind, convenient bean storage
Cons: better plan to wipe up afterward!
I graduated to this grinder from several of the blade-type units. Each type has its advantages but these are the main advantages of this type:
1) you can set the timer to grind the exact amount you need for your pot.
2) you can store extra beans in the hopper, saving going for coffee beans every day.
3) more consistent grind.
4) less dust.
Having said this, I've found this grinder to be just as messy as every other I've tried. Like a prior reviewer stated, you'd better make sure you have the lid on the grounds receptable or your kitchen will be adorned with brown specks! Actually, no matter how well I put this thing together, I still get a little residue leakage anyway. Not a lot, but enough to show up on my white counter.
The grind is indeed more consistent than the blade-type though there is still some dust produced. I use the very coarse setting for my beloved percolators and it is perfect. I don't use any "gor-may" coffee, just regular roasted beans that I buy in big bags.
I've run many, many pounds of beans through this grinder and it hasn't burped yet. Noisy? You bet. I simply plan to run a damp sponge over the counter every morning after grinding. When I used the blade type I always managed to spill some on the counter, too.
I owned several brands of blade-type grinders and it always drove me crazy that I couldn't get all the coffee out of the little nooks and crannies, like where the bowl met the plastic sides. I could just see organisms growing, and of course you can't immerse those. I do like the ability to pull the receptable and lid off of this grinder and throw it in the dishwasher.
If someone out there has come across a mess-less grinder I'd love to know about it. Until then I'll stick with this one!
