With an Architect Series gas range, youll experience the instant response of a gas flame and features that allow you to explore new possibilities. The TripleTier burner can be used to expand your cooking options without changing burners. For simmering or slow heating of sauces, you can use the smaller, inside burner to produce a gentle output as low as 600 BTUs. For tasks that require a higher output, like sauteing or flash-frying, you can use the entire burner and draw up to 15,000 BTUs. All gas ranges feature dual-heat broiling. A halogen halo broil element supplements the heat from the radiant flame broiler for fast, even broiling that sears foods and brings out their taste and texture. With a convectiongas range, you get the added performance of a true convection gas oven. Minimize

Very Happy with this range.

Pros: Design. Power. Contemporary looks. Value. Cooking performance.

Cons: Plastic keypad. Wish they kept the glass of the old model.

The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this range to anyone looking to add a quality gas convection range with professional looks.

Author's Review
Just purchased this item last week and it was delivered on Friday. As an owner of the previous architect model that I had purchased for the kitchen in my old home, I am impressed. That says a lot because I absolutely adored the old range!

Note: Shortly after I purchased the range, I noticed that there appeared to be several negative reviews about it on epinions.com. Some of the comments mentioned that the range had trouble boiling water, the knobs are plastic, etc. That is patently false. Of course, after reading those reviews I questioned my purchase and was eager to put it through its paces.

Being an italian american, food is love. So my first test involved boiling water for pasta. I got out my large, trusty pasta pot, filled it with enough water to boil 3 lbs of linguini, and timed the boil while using a remote thermometer suspended mid-way in the pot.

The temperature increased rapidly using the triple crown power burner. At 6 minutes 45 seconds, with an ambient air temperature of 62 degrees and my 400CFM range hood howling away, a strong rolling boil was achieved! There goes that myth. However, I suspect that the negative user may not have a sufficient gas supply. The specs on the stove call for a 3/4 inch gas supply. A lot of homes have just a 1/2 inch supply. I would upgrade your service to 3/4 inch and that may solve your problem!

Ok, second test: Pan Searing.

I had perfect results pan searing scallops in no time. I was impressed with the heat generated.

Third Test: Stir Fry.

I stir fried curry scallops and shrimp along with mixed vegetables. Excellent result. Very hot. Perfectly done.

Fourth Test: Broiled salmon filets.

Again, no problems here. Broiler gave me nearly the same result as my 46,000BTU Vermont Castings outdoor grill.

5th Test: 5 lb Prime Rib.

Convection worked beautifuly. Very happy with the results.

6th Test: Fried eggs.

My wife prepared breakfast using the smaller burners. She was pleased with the results.

7th Test: Boxed Mac And Cheese
(NOT ME!My wife loves that stuff)

She used one of the simmer burners for this culinary Mt. Everest. No problems. Heated through fine and quickly.

Looks:

My neighbors have the older version of this range, the previous model. Upon seeing ours, they both literaly salivated. It looks, incredible. Like a serious piece of commercial equipment. In fact, I think this is probably the closest you can get to the looks and performance of a Wolf or Viking without spending $3,000 plus.

Lastly, my wife and I were also comparing a high end double oven 5 burner GE profile that was about the same price. I could not help but notice that the overall fit and finish of the Kitchenaid range, as well as the "Solid" feeling while manipulating the door and the knobs easily surpassed the GE profile. The door of the GE felt flimsy and light compared to the Kitchenaid. I love this range!
