MDV60ME for Sony TRV900
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: IC chip works great with TRV900. Great quality tape with no lubricant build-up.
Cons: None, except they are sometimes hard to find.
The Bottom Line:
Great tape for MiniDV camcorders. Great color and sound capturing. Would highly recommend to new enthusiast.
I love these tapes!
I started using these JVC tapes back in 2000, when I bought our Sony TRV900 camcorder. I have used them on two trips to the UK; Birthdays, Holidays, and vacations for a family of four. Before purchasing the first tape, I read all the tape reviews, and JVC had the fewest complaints and didn't suffer from the lubricant build up that seems to plague several other major brands. (Never cross brands - this leads to several problems in the tape bay, and lots of extra cleanings!)
Now, 7 years later, I still love the tapes, and so does my TRV. I've only lost one tape out of 150+ recordings. JVC has made a believer out of me and I wouldn't change brands for anything. Color is always great, and sound capture quality is excellent - despite the 900's poor microphones.
I always buy these tapes online. Wallmart stocks them, but they are double the price of several online stores. Avg price: $2.50. They also come in packs of 10 at a better discount.
For special occasions, I sometimes move up to the MDV60PRDU tape which holds more magnetic elements per inch.
Note: I always leave the last 3-5 minutes of tape unrecorded. That seems to prevent too much over pull or stretching during play-back and rewinds.
