Not Worth the Money

Pros: Any pro is outweighed by the cons.

Cons: Broke within 90 days. Complicated to install, program and use.

The Bottom Line:
stay away

Author's Review
I was so happy when I got this thing home. Aside from the fact that it is very complicated to use I enjoyed using my new DVD/VCR. I didn't even use it that much. Perhaps 1-2 DVDs per week max. At the 90 day mark, thankfully within the warranty period, the DVD jammed and I couldn't get my rented DVD out of the track without prying the door open.

I called JVC and started negotiating the customer service maze. It was impossible to speak with a live person. Voicemail was not very thorough in their conveyance of information. So I checked their web site to find out about sending the unit in for repair under the warranty. All they tell you is the address to ship it to. So I wondered whether or not I needed some kind of authorization. I took my chances and shipped it to their posted address anyway.

A few days later I checked the voicemail maze again to try to find a live person. I found my way, somehow, through repair status and got a live body. All he told me is that it is in for repair.

In a nutshell, JVC customer service is awful. Their product is awful. I have purchased much electronic equipment over the years. Everything, and I do mean everything, has lasted me for years without any problems. This barely made it to 90 days with little use. I think that is bad.
