The DR-MV1SL offers one-touch dual-direction dubbing between the DVD and VHS sections for easy archiving and editing. In addition, it includes twin tuners that allow DVD and VHS recording to be performed separately, and even simultaneously from different TV channels. The live memory feature when using the DVD-RAM format allows simultaneous recording and playback. In addition, VHS playback is possible during DVD recording, and DVD playback is possible during VHS recording.

Pros: VHS&DVD can be recorded at the same time-two different programs on two different channels.
Cons: Chapters are not added automatically
I've just read the horror stories, but haven't experienced any of these problems. I am able to record two different programs on different channels at the same time -- one on DVD and the other on VHS -- as well as copy DVD to VHS and VHS to DVD. Once you get the hang of it, programing is quite easy. So far, I haven't found a way to have the unit automatically add chapters -- Chapters ARE added when you delete material (such as a commercial) from the recorded program. Also, I haven't found a way to fast forward the DVD recording without watching the program on the screen -- there ARE several speeds to fast forward on both DVD and VHS. Programs can be previewed before selecting them for viewing. I believe they have discontinued this model, but I would purchase another one if it were available.
