A quartet beats a duet... every time!

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Enjoy new levels of performance and personal productivity with the "Q"

Cons: Requires a modicum of knowledge to overclock. Uses slightly more power than dual core.

Bottom Line:
With the price disparity gap between dual and quad core, there simply is no reason to limit yourself. In this case, more is indeed better.

An Aged Artifact

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Cool, Overclockable, moderately easy to install, very good stock settings, long-lasting.

Cons: Six years old, heatsink is difficult to install.

Bottom Line:
Six years old and on a dying socket type, this processor will not likely be useful to many. However, it is very powerful, very cost effective, and very stable. Read More

Fast x4, Overclocks Well if Lucky, but HOT HOT HOT

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Can hit 3.5 GHz rock solid stable (YMMV), low FSB and high multiplier (easier OC)

Cons: Bad heatsink mount design, high temperatures (even at stock settings)

Bottom Line:
The Q6600 G0 stepping represents the current sweet spot for price and performance. Just need better cooling. Read More

The Q6600 is a good introductory quad core processor for the Socket 775.

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Quad cores, 8Mb total L2 on-chip cache

Cons: 65nm always produces more heat than a 45nm quad core

Bottom Line:
Four cores in an Intel Q6600 versus two cores in the E8600, which will ultimately win the performance battle on the Socket 775, you make the choice! Read More
