Dependable Unit

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Cheap replacement battery....34-36 dollars at Walmart. Very affordable unit, at $233 Walmart.com.

Cons: Not...progressive scan, also... sound's "canyon" effect on some DVDs.

The Bottom Line:
Good, reliable DVD player.

Author's Review
Purchased this unit in Alaska at local Walmart, was marked down as a "display model" from $299 to $175, which I thought was a good discount considering that the only reason it was not full price was that they opened two boxes for "displays" and this one could not
be sold as new.

We have used the unit for 2-3 weeks. It would be nice if it had dual headphone outputs, but note, it does not. You can get a splitter if you desire. The sound is probably my one complaint, as it has a kind of "canyon" sound when you are playing back DVDs, at least on the Little House on the Praire and Jeffersons episodes.

We love the convenience of the unit. The unit clearly does not get hot, or really even warm. Also, this is very important to note... the battery. If you purchase a Cyberhome, you will be very sorry when you buy another battery. The cost is $99, just for an extra (or replacement) battery!!! Oh, and if you want the Cyberhome replacement battery from their website,
hello....$129 bucks for the battery? Check it out,
expensive!!!!

If, however you purchase the "Initial" brand, you will pay around $34 for an extra battery at Walmart or $36 bucks online. This is a major difference, and remember batteries go out, and they even die. Also if you want
that extra battery for long trips, on airplane or by car, you will be buying an extra batter anyway.

I like the 7 inch screen, but the 5.8 is appealing to me as well as it would fit into a regular "cd" case.

NIce feature is that you can hook the DVD player directly to your living room television (we currently have no other dvd player) and watch your moveis on the "big" screen rather than the 7 inch. All of the extra accessories that come with the unit, make it an extra special bargain.

Last thing, 1 year warranty versus the Cyberhome's 90 day warranty. Hmmm, wonder why?
