When Infiniti introduced the G35 a couple of years ago a group of journalists, including myself, were taken to a West Coast Gulf Earlier this year, Infiniti, Nissan's luxury division, announced specific updates for the G35 in the 2005 model year. Pros: Mucho HP, Style, Price!
Cons: Fuel Economy, Too easy to get a ticket!
The Bottom Line:
Great car for the money when compared to the competition. Most HP and less headache when it comes to repairs.
I upgraded from a 1999 G20T to a 2005 G35 equipped with sport package and all I can say is that I make execuses to go drive the car. Compared with my old Infiniti G20 the G35 has so much horsepower that I know I'm gonna get a speeding ticket soon. But other than that the car is awesome.
I test drove the Acura TSX and TL. I liked the TL, but it wasn't a rear wheel drive and it was about $8k more than the G. The TSX lacked rwd and had a cheap looking interior. Also, the high revving engine and honda civic-like exterior didn't appeal to me. (Put the new Civic sedan next to the TSX and you'll see how similar they are) Others I considered, but didn't drive were the 05 BMW 325i which was too expensive and was already being replaced by the new body style. I also considered the Mercedes C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan, but because of reliability issues I didn't even bother test driving (in fact my associate bought a new 2006 ML350 and she took it back to the dealer 3X within the 1st month of ownership).
To summarize, the G35 is a super fun car to drive with speed that'll beat most cars out on the road. It responds well to the driver and attracts looks and compliments from almost everyone who comes into contact with the G35. If you want a classy car for great price. This is the one!
