Pros: Cheap, brand name.

Cons: Very unreliable.

The Bottom Line:
Stay away. It is not reliable and could waste your time and data.

Author's Review
I had read that these drives were known to die early, but I figured with a manufacturer like IBM and reseller like Dell, that it could not be as bad as lots of people said.

I was wrong.

The drive died just after a year. The manufacturing date shows as Feb-2002 and it kicked the bucket in Aug-2003. So it was not the case that it was an old drive that could have been affected by improper long term storage. While I could get into the low cost per MB or the relative quiet compared to the Maxtor I replaced it with, the bottom line is it failed.

Even if they gave the drives away, the price would be too high.
