The first sport utility vehicle from South Koreas leading automaker was a four-door, five-passenger wagon. Loosely based on the compact Sonata sedans platform, the Santa Fe was priced to compete with compact car-based SUVs such as the Honda CR-V, Subaru Forester, and new Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute. Hyundais version was wider and heavier, with the biggest cargo capacity in its class.

The Bottom Line:
But One!!!
We were looking at several different cars to buy. We saw a Santa Fe on the road and liked how it looked decided to test drive one. Needless to say we bought it that day! We take alot of road trips and use to rent cars for this but we love our car so much that we drive it everywhere we go. The only problem is we just made our first payment and it now had 4500 miles! It does so well in the mountains here in NV as well as off road. We only bought the 4 cylinder and it is not a 4 wheel drive but it still was a wonderful buy for us.
