The 2001 Elantra is available in two models, the GLS Sedan and the GT Wagon. The appearance of the Elantra has been refreshed this year with new exterior styling, larger standard wheels and tires, and a new palette of available exterior colors to choose from. The Elantra is powered by a 2.0L, 140-hp engine that can be coupled with either the standard five-speed manual transmission or the optional four-speed automatic. Standard safety features on the Elantra include both front and side impact air bags and a passenger air bag deactivation sensor. Various levels of upgrade packages are available that provide features such as cruise control, keyless entry with alarm, a CD player, and an anti-lock braking system.

Great Car, Great Price, Great on Gas, What more can you ask for?

This is a great car for those reliable car. the price is great and it easy to care for.
You would think the title would tell all, but that is just the start of things. Yes it is true the price for this car used is very reasonable and with the cost of gas your wallet doesn't get drained at the pump. However there is a lot of other things that make this a great car. I purchased this car used in 2004. At the time I was a single mother of 2 small boys and needed a great car at an affordable price. I came across this car for $4,000 with only 25,000 miles on it. Who could pass that down? I have the standard transmission. As a fist time driver of a manual I found this car was extremely easy to drive. I picked up shifting within an half hour and after an hour felt comfortable to drive on the highway in stop and go traffic. Getting behind the wheel was a pleasure. Everything was well placed. It did not take days to learn how to turn the windshield wipers on. The inside had plenty of room for me and the kids. Now that I remarried 2 adults and two kids still fit fine. I have to admit I have been in 2 car accidents with this car. Each time all passengers were unharmed and protected by the six airbags. I love this car so much I went and bought the 2006 model with my husband. I have owned 5 Hyundai's and would not consider buying another brand. I find that they are reliable and easy to care for.
