Pros: Great power, easy to use attachments
Cons: No rotating hose connection
The Bottom Line:
After a lot of research, the Hoover S3765, met or exceeded my expectations.
I was using a Fantom upright which I loved but it was time to move on. The thing I loved about the Fantom was how the handle pulled up to become your attachment hose. So in my search for a new vacuum, attachments were a main selling point for me. I chose the S3765 after obsessive research online. My concerns were mainly about the size of the dust cup.
I have been using the S3765 for about two months and have used it at four different locations, just to test it completely. The dust cup does look alarmingly small, but after seeing it in action, it is adequate. The dust cup is separated into two chambers, one for dust only, and one for larger dirt like lint, hair, fur, etc. So when you see the amount of just dust and dirt you are getting up-it is quite surprising. I vacuum something everyday and I empty every day. I rinse the canister and filter once a week. It does take overnight to dry the filter. I have used the little brush to clean the filter, but feel water pressure alone is probably doing enough to clean it.
The carpet head is 15", larger than what I was used to, which has its good and bad points, I tend to clunk around table legs a bit more with the Hoover. I prefer to use the bare floor cleaner on hard floors. It is only 8 inches, but it rotates well enough and it is easier to use in the kitchen around the appliances.
The little power head is great on stairs. I have not used the crevice tool, just using the bare wand works for me. The attachments do not all fit in the unit, so I tied a little apron on it that holds the bare floor cleaner and power wand. I also keep a fluffier dust brush I had from another vacuum in the apron, as the one that came with the Hoover is pretty short bristled.
I don't have a complaint about the cord length, it is shorter than what I had before, but it still works well with the way my house is set up. I do love the telescoping wand and find myself changing heights occasionally because it makes it easier on my back.
My only disappointment was that the hose does not rotate where it connects to the canister. I do sometimes have to flip the hose around and would have gladly paid extra for a rotating connector. The hose is almost a little too long for my taste, but I'll take the longer reach even if it means a little more maneuvering around.
Emptying the dust cup is messy, but I have had bagless before and they were all messy. On hardwood, I have seen dustballs crawl across the floor toward the vacuum, I just love that!
I have three kids and a cat, just so you'll know what kind of cleaning I am dealing with.
I paid $200.00 free S&H and am very pleased.
