As I’ve mentioned in previous reviews, our family room is in the basement of our house. It’s usually cold down there. Rather than turn up the heat and roast the rest of the house that no one is using, we’ve always used space heaters to keep this one room warmer.

We had been using a Pelonis Disc Furnace for years with no problems but DH saw this newer model at Costco and decided to buy it. I was slightly miffed because there was nothing wrong with our other model. I honestly think he got it because it had more gadgets on it.

Anyway, DH brought this home and proudly set this up in our family room. It's a cave man thing. *Must*keep*family*warm.

Since he’s a safety officer with the Baltimore City Fire Department, I know he’s very specific about what types of heaters he will or will not bring into the house.

He slipped up on this one, though. He likes ceramic heaters with the automatic shut off feature. He’s seen too many fires where one got tipped over or something fell on it. Since we have two cats that are always fighting and knocking things over, I knew this was a legitimate concern for him. I tipped this one over on purpose and it did not shut off. Strike one.

I do like the fact that this has a timer on it, and this has been handy for those days we are running in and out of the house. I prefer not to use that function often, though. I don’t trust my memory.

Still, there was nothing wrong with our other heater and I thought buying a new one was wasteful. DH said he wanted it because it oscillates and this would heat the room more evenly. Once I saw the remote control, I knew that’s what sold him. DH just loves remote controls. We’ve already got so many different remotes lying around the house; I get them all mixed up. Once again, a man thing.

This remote will turn the unit off & on, make it oscillate, or change the temperature. I tried this remote once, but it’s useless to me because I have to get up close to the machine to read what the temperature is and what I'm changing it to. I suppose if you are in bed and want to turn the unit on before you step out, this would be an excellent feature.

DH used it to make the heater oscillate or stop, but that part of our unit broke after about a month. The heater still works but it won’t rotate. When we try, it makes a frightful grinding noise so we can’t use this option any more.

I like how it tilts and it does kick out a lot of heat. I've rarely had a heater put out too much heat to drive me out of the basement but this one has that honor. I especially like the large digital read out. I'm over 40 now and the old eyes don't see as well as they used to. As much as I liked our older Pelonis, there was no temperature control to it. The on/off button is also more easily accessible than our previous model.

We still use this but I'm rather disappointed. If the oscillating feature hadn’t broken so quickly after we had purchased this, I would have given this a good rating.
