This air purifier has helped me be able to function again
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: They are very helpful for people with allergies living in apartments
Cons: They are kind of loud when on the high setting
The Bottom Line:
I highly recommend this air purifier. It has really helped me with my allergy symptoms.
About a month and a half ago, my neighbors below me started smoking (I'm in an apartment complex). I have bad allergies and it was horrible. I missed some days of work, had to go to the doctor, was put on more medication for my allergies, still was hardly able to sleep at all at night because of the congestion, and basically felt like a walking zombie. I kept talking to the apartment people, who were trying to fix the ventilation or something, but nothing that they tried worked at all.
Finally, I ended up deciding to buy some air purifiers. I figured it couldn't do any worse, was worth a try, and that if it still didn't work, I would return them. I went with Honeywell for my bedroom and living room because they had high CADR ratings (I got informed on air cleaners real quick)and the box said that doctors recommend them the most for their patients. I have this model (50250) in my living room and 50150 in my bedroom. So far they work great and my co-workers, family and friends have all commented on how much better I sound than I did. These have been wonderful and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
The main thing I don't really like about them is that I had a lot of smoke coming into my bathroom and wanted to get one for that as well. But the manual said they were not meant to be put in bathrooms so I ended up getting a different brand purifier for my bathroom. Also, they are a little loud on the high setting, but I would still so much rather have that then feel as bad as I was feeling a month ago.
The purifier has 3 speeds, Low, Medium, and High. I usually put mine on high for a while and then put it on low when I go to bed. I don't know yet how much it will effect an electricity bill.
It also has something called Intelli-Check Filter Monitors. This feature seems wonderful because the buttons are supposed to light up when you need to change the pre-filter (usually every 3 months) and when you need to change the Hepa filter. I didn't see any others that I looked at when I was searching for air purifiers that had a feature like this. This seems much better than having to try and remember to check my calendar in my house to see when 3 months is up.
I am very glad that I bought this air purifier. It has done wonders for me.
