The 1997 Passport is available in four models. The DX model and the four-cylinder engine have been discontinued on this year line-up . All models are now equipped with a six-cylinder engine. The limited-slip differential is available on four-wheel drive models. The four-wheel drive system can be engage and disengage with a push of a button while the vehicle is in motion. The automatic transmission features power modes switch for quick acceleration and winter mode switch that prevents wheel spins. The four-wheel anti-lock brakes are standard on EX 4WD. The Passport also offers 75 cubic feet of cargo space and 60/40 split folding rearseat.
