Keep a large room cozy during frigid winter days with this silent, oil-free room heater from Bionaire. Endowed with micathermic technology for quick heat convection, the heater offers a reduced-power alternative to the house's central heating system. The heater also can supplement heat in an area of concentrated activity while the home system runs on low. The lightweight heater benefits from an outer construction that stays cool to human hands while the inner elements become hot. A digital thermostat displays the current room temperature to enable informed setting selection. The heater outputs at 1000 watts for gradual heating or less chilly conditions, while a 1500-watt output strives for more dramatic heat production. A programmable 24-hour timer affords planned morning activation or midday shutdown for greater energy efficiency. Minimize

Holmes BH3955U Bionaire

Worth every penny

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Easy to use, quiet, safe around active pets.

Cons: Whole Room Heating? Sure, if the room is closed in.

The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a unit that is easy to use and provides efficient, comfortable heat in the winter.

I live in Missouri, and the winters here can get pretty cold on occasion. I bought this unit brand new on ebay, for about 43 bucks. Set-up was very easy. The wheels slip onto that stand with no problem.

The unit itself has two settings, High and Low, and I believe it has a cycling feature that I’ve never had to use. I set it up in my bedroom and in twenty minutes the room was pretty toasty. There was a lot of initial smoke and smell when I first turned it on, but that went away after the first fifteen minutes. The unit is extremely quiet.

The heating system in my apartment isn’t very good in that front bedroom of mine, and it can get pretty chilly sometimes. I do believe that WHOLE ROOM HEATING blurb on the box, but with a caveat: the room has to be closed in.

I have kittens in my house, very active cats that like to run through the house. The Bionaire unit will shut itself off automatically if it is tipped over. That’s never happened so far, but it’s a good feature to have just in case. My cats have never tried to climb up onto the unit. As a matter of fact they generally ignore it when it's on. There is an indicator light on the front that would be visible in a darkened room. Doesn’t bother me at all.

This unit is lightweight and easy to roll from room to room.

I’m very satisfied with Bionaire. This isn't the first time I've tried one of their products. The first one was the Bionaire 3930 with that Gaileo Thermostat. Same story. Easy to use, effective heat, safe around pets. I used it to heat up a bonus room that was really nothing more than a tar-paper box with cheap siding. I lived in a ground floor apartment then, and had Bigfoot stomping around over my head in the apartment above me. When I used the gas furnace in that bonus room my gas bill went from 180 a month to over $300 a month. In comparison, using the Bionaire put an extra $20 to $60 on my electric bill. I could live with that.

I have some pretty fond memories of the peace and quiet in that bonus room, and the warmth in the winter, too.
