I am not going to go into as much detail as many of the others that wrote reviews on the Hitachi 50V500. I will say that whoever complains about the weight of this unit should not. My buddy and I got it up all the stairs to my tri-level without breaking a sweat and set it right in place. Try that with a 300 pound CRT set!

After an extensive research and shopping mission about a year ago I brought my 50V500 home with a stand (at cost) for a GREAT price, and you can do the same. On HD broadcasts, especially Discovery HD theater, the picture quality is mind boggling. The sound quality is also excellent with many sound options, but don't expect a home theater. The owner's manual is quite extensive but this monitor has the ability to have just about anything adjusted one way or the other, including NINE colors.

I found the unit the most attractive in it's class and the anti glare screen is wonderful. The stand is cool and blends right in to the TV so it looks like one contiguous unit.

It's been a year and my jaw still drops when I watch this thing!
