Great All around PDA

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: Nice screen (comparable to the 19xx), dual expansion slots (SD/MMC and CF), integrated Bluetooth

Cons: Case is horrible, stylus is cheap plastic, no integrated Wi-Fi like newer 41XX series.

The Bottom Line:
I would definitely recommend this PDA, it has its downsides but they are minor. Very good value with lots of options for the money.

I bought this PDA to replace an old Handspring Visor Deluxe that finally died on me. Many of my friends had Ipaqs and the Pocket PC OS with color screen was attractive to me. So I went out and purchased the Ipaq 22XX series. Overall I have enjoyed my Ipaq very much, it is a great all around PDA with decent software and very expandable. The first thing I replaced however was the case and stylus. I purchased a Rhino Skin (as I tend to drop my PDA every so often) and a PDA Panache stylus with built in tools. I like to screen very much, it is almost on par with the first 19XX series Ipaq's. The bluetooth is great, as it allows me to transfer files between mine and my friends PDA (which is also a 22XX) and I can use my bluetooth enabled phone to connect online should I chose. Having the dual card expansion allows me to have both a CF Wi-Fi card for surfing around the house and still have a 256 MB SD card for music, files, and pictures to play with. The headphone jack on my particular unit has been spotty a few times, but works • of the time (I use it to listen to music at the dentist's office). The only other problem I have had is the clip on my battery cover broke one day, but i just used some JB Weld to put it back on. On the software side, its microsoft mobile PC so if you dont like Microsoft, go get a Tungsten C or something like it. If you do like or use MS software then you will get the hang of this fairly quickly. The calendar program is just OK, but there are some much better ones out there (Pocket Informant) but overall its what you would expect for the OS package. It is a fairly new OS so there are some glitches still, but nothing severe that I have noticed yet. Soft resets are a normal thing with MS so dont be suprised there either. If you must have Wi-Fi all the time I would recommend the new 41XX series, but if you only use it occassionally then the 22XX series is for you.
