Pros: Easy to use. Great picture (with a steady hand.) Easy to use LCD touchscreen.
Cons: I didn't like that the charging cord has to be plugged into the camera.
The Bottom Line:
I found it easy to use and it has a great picture. You can find CHEAP accessories if you look for them and the video editing abilities are there.
I didn't have any problems taking this camcorder out of the box and using it with minimum use of the ENTIRE owner's manual. The camera's manual focus is a bit on the fast side but with a little bit of practice it's easy to overcome. The complaint that I read about the camera being "shakey" is either due to that person having DT's or they were taping for a fairly long period of time. I found that after 15 minutes I needed two hands to keep the camera steady. If you want to blame the camera, try holding a deck of playing cards out in your hands for ten minutes and see what happens. Heck, just hold out your hand empty for ten minutes and you will get the same results. If you have a half-way decent computer you can edit what you recorded every way from Sunday. The low light abilities were great up until you are recording more than 15 feet away without any thing more than some poor back lighting. I found that finalizing the 25 minutes of recording (A birthday party with a lot of movement and changes in lighting) only took 3 minutes and 40 seconds. As far as the battery power is concerned, you can purchase factory SONY batteries and chargers on E-Bay for a quarter of the price that you would pay at Best Buy and stores like that. The only drawback is that you have to wait for a week and a half to receive the stuff you ordered. You can buy a factory SONY battery (NP-FP90) FOR $26.99 on E-Bay versus $149.99 at the big retail stores and a Travel Charger (BC-TRP) for $15.99 versus $59.99 at the same retail stores all new in the factory box. I've had mine for a while now and have had zero problems.
