Pros: Easy to use, makes good quality videos
Cons: Only 30 mins recording time at a time, no playback feature
The Bottom Line:
I recommend it for families-it's a good first camcorder and in my opinion it's worth the money
We've had our little camcorder for I think nearly 2 years now. We chose this one because I like the name brand and it had a rebate. We had upgraded from a VHS-C so there were quite a few things I had to get used to. I'm pretty simple so the "easy" button for recording is what I do most of the time and like another reviewer mentioned, I still don't know how to do most of the special features. I don't do alot of the fancy things some people do with their videos but I did miss the rewind/viewing of what you just recorded features. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a USB port in it but there are other ways around that. I also had to get used to the fact that it only records for 30 mins at a time-that can be a pain when you're recording a family function like a reunion. I don't know how an aforementioned reviewer set theirs to record in one-hour increments. But mostly I use it around the house here and there so it's been a good little camcorder for that. I really like the fact that after formatting (which is easy to do, the touch screen guides you through it) you can just pop the DVD in pretty much anywhere and immediately start watching it. As for the battery, I'd bought a separate battery charger and battery for it so it's never an issue, but even after all this time the original battery works fine and seems to hold a charge for as long as I need it to.
Overall I'd say it's great for people like me, but maybe people who do a little more with their videos than just record and watch should get something else.
