The Suburban full size sport utility comes standard with daytime running lights, four wheel anti-lock brakes and a PassLock Theft-Deterrent System. The PassLock Theft-Deterrent System disables the vehicle from being started for 10 minutes if the correct key is not used. The Suburban is available in half-ton and three-quarter ton versions in either 2WD or 4WD. The Suburban is the only vehicle in its class to offer an optional diesel engine. Also available is the optional Homelink Transmitter. The standard Push Button Electronic Active Transfer Case is available in the 4WD models and will automatically engage 4WD when needed. It will revert back to 2WD for better economy when the extra traction is no longer needed. Minimize

We bought our first Suburban in 1999, after getting rid of our "uncool" minivan. We have four kids in our family, and this was one of the only SUVs that had a third seat and a lot of room in the rear area. I love this vehicle. Yes, its sometimes a pain to park, and its gigantic, and it uses a lot of gas, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Once you get a feel for the handling, it actually handles quite well for a vehicle its size. It is first a family car, but it is really a truck and the truck part comes in handy for carry heavy loads. The legroom in the front and middle seats is great, but the third is somewhat iffy. The 4WD system works well, and this gargantuan vehicle handles well in snow. Also, for being a truck, the CD player/sound system sounds quite good. Some minor problems are: no Low Fuel warning light(we ran out of gas once), and the left side hand to move the second seat forward broke off, but this could be fixed easily. We bought the truck in June of 1998(it was a 99) and it has 55,000 miles on it. It's only problem was a rack and pinion steering alignment problem, nothing serious. I can remember the days in the summer of 2000 when a fill up for gas was $75.00, but now its only $50.00 (ha ha!) I would probably say my favorite name for it is "the tank", but other names like "the bus" or "the beast" are good, too!
