The 1998 Savana is available in five models, regular and extended. New for 1998 is a PassLock theft-deterrent system that features a special lock assembly and decoder which require a valid key for operation. In addition, the Savanna is now equipped with Next Generation airbags. A passenger-side air bag is standard on all models. This year, the diesel engine has been enhanced with an increase in horsepower and torque. The automatic transmission is also enhanced to reduced vibration and noise. The Savanas engine offers maintenance-free reliability for 100,000 miles with platinum spark plugs, low-resistance spark plug wires and long-life coolant.
