(The Gibson Custom Shop Historic 1954 Les Paul Limited Run electric guitar is a wonderful reproduction that offers supreme tone and playability. This classic Gibson Les Paul guitar features a carved maple top, a mahogany back, one-piece mahogany neck with long neck tenon, an early '50s rounded neck profile, 24-3/4" scale length, and a 1-11/16" nut width. It is highlighted with cream binding on the body and on the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. Its finer appointments include nickel hardware, trapezoidal inlays, pearl Gibson logo headstock inlay, and vintage tulip-head Kluson tuners. The Historic 1954 Les Paul Limited Run guitar is equipped with dual Gibson P-90 pickups (a single P-90 on the Antigue Goldtop model) that offer a snappy, slightly gritty response, with a chunky midrange, firm lows, and sweet, musical highs. The P-90 was the standard pickup on all Gibson guitars in the late 1940s and into the 1950s and because of its crisp, bright tone it has experienced resurgence in popularity with many of today's modern rockers. In the bridge position, the P-90 packs plenty of snarly cutting power, while in the neck position it can be surprisingly rich and refined. You'll find that the P-90s' high output and biting treble has more nuanced harmonic coloring than the typical single-coil pickup. The Historic 1954 Les Paul Limited Run comes protected in a Gibson Custom Shop hardshell guitar case and includes a Certificate of Authenticity and full owner's manual and instructions.Model name: Historic 1954 Les Paul Limited RunModel number: HB179CBody style: Les Paul solid bodyTop Wood: mapleBody wood: mahoganyFinish: lacquerColors: faded ice tea, washed cherry, antique goldScale length: 24-3/4"Headstock Inlay: mother of pearl of Gibson logoTuners: Kluson reissue green keysNut: CorianNut Width: 1.69"Neck: mahoganyNeck profile: '50s roundedNeck joint: setFingerboard: rosewoodFingerboard radius: 12"Number of frets: 22Fret type: JumboFingerboard inlays: dotsHardware plating: nickelBridge: wraparound "stud" bridgeNeck Pickup: P-90 (no neck pickup on the Antique Goldtop model)Bridge Pickup: P-90Pickup selector: 3-way toggle switchControls: 2 volume, 2 tonePickguard: whiteCase: Hardshell Gibson guitar case

The Les Paul Special with P-90s is an excellent rock guitar
... Read more
The Les Paul Special with P-90s is an excellent rock guitar at a very attractive price. Basic, straightforward and ready to rock hard. Two classic P-90 pickups are loaded into a solid mahogany body for pure Gibson power. Mahogany set neck with obeche fingerboard and nitro lacquer finish, naturally, for pure Gibson Tone! The two-pickup Les Paul Special was introduced in 1955 as an intermediate model, positioned between the low-cost Les Paul Junior and the Les Paul. It was originally available only in a single-cutaway, TV-style limed mahogany finish. A double-cutaway Special and cherry red finish option were introduced in 1959. The Les Paul Special made the virtues of the Les Paul available to those who couldn't quite afford the Standard or Custom versions. And it still has all the essential features. The Les Paul Special Humbucker is made from solid mahogany. An archetypal tonewood used in countless classic Gibson electric guitars, mahogany has a sonic depth and richness that pulses through every note, yet always remains clear and articulate. As a further modification to the slab-bodied template, the Pelham Blue guitars include a comfortable belly scarf on the back, while the Ebony Black model excludes the pickguard for that full-on hotrodded look. The guitars neck is made from quarter-sawn Grade C mahogany, carved to the fast, yet comfortable SlimTaper profile, with a fingerboard of dark obeche, a rich-brown hardwood with excellent tone and durability. For hardware, Gibson USA packs in a classic set of Tune-o-matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece, with vintage-style, white-button tuners. Two P-90 single-coil pickups produce the raw powerful tone that helped define the blues and rock and roll in their formative years. Today, the P90's traditional combination of high output and brilliant tone is still considered a favorite among many top musicians.Handcrafted in Nashville, TN USABody: Genuine MahoganyNeck: Genuine Mahogany (60s slim taper)Fingerboard: Black Obeche w/ dot inlaysHardware: Chrome Tune-O-Matic; white button tunersElectronics: Gibson P-90 pickupsCase: Gibson Deluxe 940 gig bag

Everyone at the Zoo had to do a double take when the case of this awesome Les Paul was opened up. This frost blue finished '57 reissue looks like few other Les Pauls out there. We think the fact that the entire guitar is frost blue and not just the top makes this guitar even cooler. Add the looks to that full feeling '57 neck profile and the tone provided by the Burstbucker pickups, and you've got one fantastic and unique guitar.

Introduced in 1954 as an entry-level version of the Les Paul, the Les Paul Junior graduated from kids bedrooms, to garage bands, to club and arena stages through the course of three decades as it became a favorite of beginners and professional players alike. The bare-bones, slab-bodied, single-cutaway electric earned the respect of rock and rollers in particular, and became a punk favorite in the late 70s and early 80s, but also turned up in the hands of a surprisingly diverse range of guitar stars. As simple as the Les Paul Junior was in design and construction, its basic cornerstone ingredients added up to create a robust and toneful instrument. The marriage of hot, raw single-coil P-90 pickup, resonant mahogany body, and sturdy glued-in Gibson neck created a guitar with surprising reserves of depth and power, at an extremely appealing price. Now the Les Paul Jr Special Exclusive reproduces the simple pleasures of that 55-year-old classic, while updating the format with a second pickup (in the neck position, a la the Les Paul Special), and improved hardware in the form of a tune-o-matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece combination.Mahogany body24.75" Scale slim-taper mahogany neckTorrified maple fretboard with 22 medium fretsDual Gibson P-90 soapbar single-coil pickupsTune-o-matic bridgeGrover vintage-style tuning machinesNitrocellulose finish
