Metros carried a 1.0-liter, 3-cylinder engine that developed a modest 55 horsepower. Base models first came only with a 5-speed manual gearbox. A 3-speed automatic was available on the upscale LSi. For 1990, the economy-leading model got an XFi designation. The XFi was the only model not available as a 4-door, and could not be equipped with an automatic transmission. Its engine developed less power. Also, A 2-seat convertible with a driver-side airbag and manual folding top appeared. Minimize

Pros: great for small parking places, excellent gas mileage

Cons: not the most powerful car

Metros have to be the god of cars when it comes to practicality. I can drive for weeks on a tank of gas to and from work...I can haul things in this car that wouldn't fit in others thanks to it's hatch back...it's one of the best cars out there in my opinion.
The car that I have is a 1994 1.0 liter 2 door. Sure, you may think that the 3-cylinder engine is small, but the good thing is, Chevy puts a 5 speed manual behind mine. So even though you only have roughly 60 cubic inches to work with, you have lots of gears.
Another great thing about the car is the price for insurance. I pay so little, I just carry liability and get by with a very small payment, a little over $10 per month. This is being female with a clean driving record though. I understand this may vary for others.
Another great thing about this car, the only things I've replaced on a regular basis would be oil, air filters, and spark plugs. I have noticed it goes through spark plugs a little faster than other cars I've seen. I also just replaced the battery that it had in it since 1994. I haven't had to park my car in a service station once. I feel that it is very reliable.
