If you plan on using it more than once a day, or you want to make more than 16 ounces a day of juice, don't buy it.
Too time consuming.
I have been juicing for 25 years. I own 2 Champions, a Jack LaLanne centrifugal and a Greenpower Hippocrates twin gear.
If you want to juice large quantities, don't buy!
This machine is a twin axle, twin gear, double axle juicer. Many of these machines are very similar, or even exactly alike.. For instance, the "Hippocrates" is actually a GreenPower. They just slap a label on there to make it sound novel, exclusive- to make more money. They all are subject to the same patent, which is still active in 2007.
Thus, ALL twin gears are too time consuming.. You have two cutters to clean off, not one. The cutters are filled with recesses and crevices where pulp gets stuck. These juicers mash and squeeze the produce, they don't cut/grate it.Very similar to a meat grinder. So the pulp gets well imbedded into the different components. One cannot juice fruit with the same screen. One has to dissassemble and put on another screen with bigger holes. Believe me, the fruit screen is no picnic to clean. The vegetable screen is much easier.
Your produce has to be cut into very small pieces because the feeder hole is very small. So prepping takes more time. The juicer runs at a low rotation per minute. This is great, because your juice is not subject to heat. But the juicing process is again slowed down.
You cannot simply force your produce into the holes and towards the cutters. Remember, it doesn’t cut, it mashes/presses. More time lost for the user.
One has also got to clean the base of the metal shafts, the 2 metal rods that sticks out from the juicer’s body. This is where the 2 cutters are attached onto the juicer’s body. This area is recessed.
The machine is excellent for juicing 8 or 16 ounces once a day. The pulp is dry. It is unsurpassed at juicing sprouts and leafy greens. The juice is truly raw, unheated. The machine is also very versatile. Like the champion, it can homogenize, make nut butters, banana ice cream, sprouted grain breads.. But all of its functions are very time consuming.
I stopped using my twin axle a year ago.
