Great Scanner

Author's Rating: Rating: 4/5 stars

Pros: Easy to set up, easy to use. Very reliable.

Cons: You can only load about 10-15 pages otherwise it pull multiple pages.

The Bottom Line:
Great small office or small work group scanner. It is easy to use and not very complex technically. It scans reliably and with a very low to no error rate.

This is a great little scanner. I mean little. When I got it, it didn't seem like it was worth the $950 that I paid for it. Too many times I have bought a computer device thinking it would make my life better and more efficient, only to find out that it didn't work as advertised or was so technically complex that I couldn't or didn't want to figure it out.

I just plugged in the USB port (a SCSI cable and card was provided), ran the setup program and started scanning. The Scand21 program that comes with it is a little annoying since it pops up by default (I prefer to use the bundled Adobe). However, the Scand21 is a fair product and will do most scanning jobs. Overall scanning was easy and simple.

I am using this in a small business environment. I scan anywhere from 100 to several thousand pages a day, which is 10 to 100 individual documents. It handles the task well. The only complaint I have is the low hopper size. You can't really put in more than 10-15 pages without it pulling multiple pages at the same time. So this is not a load and forget job for large documents.

Overall, if you have moderate daily scanning needs this is a great scanner and performs as advertised. It truly will make your document scanning easy and efficient. Because of this product I have transitioned to a "paperless" office.
