Pros: Great all around machine Small footprint. Solidly built.
Cons: Expensive, but for heavy volume, is well worth it. SCSI interface did not work.
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this machine to anybody handling a lot of documents daily. It can replace your fax, and a lot of paper files.
I love this scanner. I just can't believe how long I have been using my high resolution flatbed scanner for B/W documents. I never realized how much faster documents can be input. Wanting the most throughput, I messed with the SCSI interface for a while (it came with a card and cable), and could not get this to work. I switched to USB, and even at 1.1, it is plenty fast. It scans in pages at 300x300 very, very fast. Much faster than any fax machine I have used before. Now I no longer use my fax machine, I just scan and fax over the computer. I am also thinking that I can do away with a lot of my paper files, by scanning all my documents.
It has not jammed or pulled multiple pages in even once.
It takes up a very small space on the desk. I was shocked when the box arrived to see how small it is.
The software is nice. When you insert a document into the scanner, a dialog box pops up on your screen, asking what you want to do.
The duplex scanning is very nice. Saves a lot of time.
I have not used it much for color or greyscale work.
Comes with Acrobat 5.0 and another Twain driver that scans to TIFF and other image formats. The software has a lot of functionality.
