Fords F-150 has been substantially redesigned for 2004. All new exterior styling is accompanied by model line-up, package, and powertrain changes, as well. The 4WD Regular Cabs are available in XL, STX, XLT, and FX4 trims. The standard engine has been upgraded from a 4.2L V-6 to a 4.6L V-8 (with an optional 5.4L engine available). All engines are coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The new F-150 also gets larger standard wheels and tires, all-new interior appointments, and new exterior and interior color combinations. For better payload and towing performance, a heavy duty payload package is available that increases the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating to 8200 lbs.

Nice truck that drives like a car
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: Drives well, lots of room, plenty of power to tow,
Cons: Quality of finishing, size of truck for downtown
The Bottom Line:
I do recommend this truck as it is a pleasure to drive and performs well.
We purchased an F150 Supercrew to travel as a family and haul everything that comes along with us. As well we use to occasionally tow a boat or utility trailer. I have added a truck bed hard cover and a LineX truck bed liner. It is used for family outings such as boating, travels, skiing as well to transport a variety of household building materials.
I enjoy driving the vehicle. It has plenty of leg room in both the front and rear portions of the cabin. The truck bed is large enough to handle packing everything we need and then some. No issues carrying virtually anything. The short truck bed has not yet been a limitation due to the bed extender.
As I need to park in downtown parking locations, this has proven to be a major issue. The high of the vehicle is so restrictive that I must plan ahead where I am to park. The physical size of the truck has also been an issue. Some parking lots have rather narrow parking slots which can become an issue. Backup sensors are a great help when parking in tight spaces.
The truck has been in the shop for regular maintenance. I also did need to bring it in twice for warranty repairs. Once because of faulty electrical wiring and the other to deal with disks that needed to be turned. Both were done on warranty by my dealer.
