Fords F-150 has been substantially redesigned for 2004. All new exterior styling is accompanied by model line-up, package, and powertrain changes, as well. The 4WD Regular Cabs are available in XL, STX, XLT, and FX4 trims. The standard engine has been upgraded from a 4.2L V-6 to a 4.6L V-8 (with an optional 5.4L engine available). All engines are coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The new F-150 also gets larger standard wheels and tires, all-new interior appointments, and new exterior and interior color combinations. For better payload and towing performance, a heavy duty payload package is available that increases the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating to 8200 lbs. Minimize

Author's Review
I have a 2004 f150 super crew fx4 truck and have been very happy with it. The only downfall on these trucks is the power rear window. Mine stopped working while still under factory warranty. It turned out to be the cable breaking off the sliding glass. There is no other fix for this problem then replacing the entire rear window. As a former Parts and Service Mgr for a Ford dealer I no this was a serious concern for customers. In my case though it broke again after the warranty ran out and it is a very expensive repair. I believe though that Ford is now trying to come up with some kind of repair that does not require replacing the entire window. Other then that problem my truck has 67,000 miles on it and runs and drives excellent. As far as gas mileage is concerned mine pulls a little over 18 on the highway while in overdrive and about 14 in town. A quick tip on the gas mileage. Keep it just under 70mph on the highway and you will get optimum freeway mileage. I have the Triton 5.4 in mine and it runs strong. I put new front brakes on it at 62,000. This is exceptional service to me. Other then oil changes and air filters this is all my truck has required.
