Fords F-150 has been substantially redesigned for 2004. All new exterior styling is accompanied by model line-up, package, and powertrain changes, as well. The 4WD Regular Cabs are available in XL, STX, XLT, and FX4 trims. The standard engine has been upgraded from a 4.2L V-6 to a 4.6L V-8 (with an optional 5.4L engine available). All engines are coupled with a 4-speed automatic transmission. The new F-150 also gets larger standard wheels and tires, all-new interior appointments, and new exterior and interior color combinations. For better payload and towing performance, a heavy duty payload package is available that increases the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating to 8200 lbs.

A great Truck!!
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: Great power, roomy, room for upgrades, and reliable
Cons: FUEL ECONOMY, 13-15 mpg!
The Bottom Line:
I would recommend this truck because it is truly a cutting edge truck and has the styling, reliability, and power to prove it.
I bought my 2004 F-150 new off the lot with only 105 miles on it. When I saw it, just like everyone else, I was in love. I have the big V8 with 4x4 and XLT package. The truck shifts very smooth for a 4 speed transmission and is quiet for a truck. I currently have 43K on the truck and the only problem I have run into is that I replaced the stock rotors on the front because city driving basicly ate them up. I have better one's on them now. I have not had any of the problems of the other reviewers. I have had no transmission problems, no drivetrain problems, electrical problems, or body problems. I have to say that with any vehicle, you have to get in the habit of 'raising the hood' atleast once a week or you WILL have failures. I check out my truck every week and I guess I have avoided any of the big problems. I have replace every fluid, except for the power steering fluid, in the truck by 30K and it just seems to drive better. I do have to say this about Ford, though, the Differential fluid is the cheap stuff and you should replace that at the first oil change. I use 75w-140 instead of the 70w-90 the manual recommend. So far, I am still in love with my truck and it is 2007! several times I have loaded the bed of the truck with concrete, sod, wood, and furniture that have made it sage in the back and put trailers on the truck and it still pulls hard when I stomp on the gas. Great truck. If you get this truck, remember, you have to maintain this vehicle with a passion and it will always be dependable. If you can't maintain any vehicle, then get a Toy.
