Ok first off I love SUVs themselves. I bought this car because it was and still is the best looking SUV on the market. IT has wonderful sporty yet truck like styling not found in other SUVs. All other SUVs I have found are pretty much boxes with straight edges and thats about it. Not the Explorer Sport though. Everything is beautifully curvacious about this vehicle the interior is high quality and I especially love the leather Ford uses on their vehicles.

I have a 98 SOHC..I bought this car when it came out in 1997 so I was an early adopter of the SOHC engine. This engine has pep though I have clocked my truck and I get 0 - 60 in about 8.1 For a 4ton TRUCK that is pretty awesome. The engine revs nicely and sounds deep. Its quick off the line and has no problems accelerating through traffic.

Handling is ok. Corners obviously there is a noticeable sway. The bumps on the road are felt at low speeds but at moderate speeds they are not a problem. The Stock suspension is not that great I'll tell you that much. Though there was a noticeable increase in ride quality when I changed the stock Firestone tires to some Michelins. Otherwise I find this vehicle fun to drive.

This 2 door version of the Explorer is definitely not for a family. Getting into the rear seat although not a huge problem is a little messy because of the flipping forward of the seats. This car is a nice car for someone who wants a good audio system with some bass....there is plenty of room in the back for whatever you want.

For those Performance people...there are also drop kits, lift kits, all kinds of after market modifications that can be done to this truck to make it a racing machine and a really cool street truck
