2- and 4-door hatchback, 4-door sedan and 4-door station wagon; 5 passenger capacity. Ford is once again selling three variations on a theme for one figure, and a lower figure at that, since Ford has actually dropped prices on this model and others. Many models get larger stabilizer bars for better handling and a new appearance from a changed grille, tail lights, wheelcovers and colour-keyed bodyside moldings and bumpers. The stabilizer and grille changes do not apply to the sporty GT, but it does get a new spoiler as well as new rocker panels and aluminum wheels. There are also five new exterior colours to choose from. Also new this year is a Sport Appearance group, which is a cosmetic upgrade only. The motorized belts stay in selected models.
