Author's Review
I have owned a couple of Royal brand cross cut shredders that I bought at Sam's Club. The first (I forget the model) simply died, the second (an Orca 3500) jammed with increasing frequency until I spent more time clearing jams than shredding, plus some plastic parts were breaking. So the days were numbered for this shredder.

I don't think I'm a paranoid person at all, but with all the identity theft going on I do tend to want to destroy documents which could pose a problem if they were used by criminals. If you are like me, you get a ton of annoying credit card offers and the more concerning blank "convenience" checks from the credit card company (I won't get started on this). These along with billing records and such make me want to destroy to the extent I can what I throw away.

Based on the reviews here, I ponied up the cash and purchased one of these fine machines, and have been 100% satisfied with the unit. It is a heavy unit, but that comes from having quality all metal shredding teeth. The unit states it can handle 7 sheets with staples. I usually don't feed a shredder like this, but I did put in a 10 sheet sheaf of paper which pulled down the motor but the unit still managed quite satisfactorily. You have to take the top off every time you empty the basket (which is common to this type of shredder), and the top is not light. The basket however is pretty large so emptying isn't as frequent as the Royal brand units I have owned. The unit is also much quieter than the Royal units I have owned which is nice.

My one negative was going to be price (I got a "deal" at $105, but now I see several places to purchase for under $100. I feel it is well worth the $105, so I'd have no hesitation in purchasing at a lesser price.
