Fellowes PS60CC confetti cut shredder

Author's Rating: Rating: 5/5 stars

Pros: works well, quiet, great deal!

Cons: none so far

The Bottom Line:
At $40, I can't imagine why anyone would buy anything else for a personal shredder. Even at $80 it would be a good value.

Author's Review
I finally decided to buy a confetti-cut shredder as I've heard too much about identity theft and I've decided to toss out a lot of my old financial documents. After doing some research (including at epinions), it seemed that the Fellowes PS60CC offered good performance and reliability at a fair price.

I checked the Fellowes web site and found it available as a refurbished unit for $59 with a 1 year parts and labor warranty. I then checked E-bay and found one for $70. When I called Fellowes to find out what the warranty would be on an auctioned but new unit, I found it was only 90 days. The woman I spoke to told me that for some reason, they could sell it over the phone for less than the web site price! She offered it to me for $40 + $8 shipping, with a full year warranty and told me that I could use vegetable oil to lubricate the machine and didn't need the "fancy" shredder oil that they sold. I gave her my credit card and it arrived about a week later.

I set it up (about 3 minutes) and worked my way through a 7" pile of documents. It jammed a couple of times if I put too many in at once but the reverse mode unjammed it quickly. It had no trouble with staples and didn't even get warm. It was reasonably quiet as well. It's only been one day but I'm VERY pleased with its performance and value.
