A bamboo fly rod was L.L. Bean's favorite tool for landing Atlantic salmon in New Brunswick and brook trout in Maine. This limited-edition fly rod is a fitting tribute to the classic rods used by L.L. Bean 100 years ago. Handcrafted by Steve Campbell of the legendary Thomas Rod Company of Brewer, Maine, each rod requires between 50 and 80 hours of workmanship. The result is a stunning example of master craftsmanship that's certain to become a cherished heirloom and collector's item. Thomas Rod Company started building bamboo fly rods in 1896, and has supplied rods for Presidents Dwight Eisenhower and Herbert Hoover, famous Rangeley fly tier Carrie Stevens and Hall of Fame baseball player Ted Williams.
