#1, best cleaning Stick Vac that picks up the most dirt. Laboratory tests have proven that the Shark Transformer Vac has more suction power than any competing bagless stick vac. Bagless Cyclonic Action removes ground-in dirt and pet hair. Convenient mess-free bottom emptying dust container. No more bags to replace! Larger, 11" cleaning path. 1 1/2 times the suction of a typical full-size vacuum. Telescopic tube and floor attachment are removable at the press of a button, converting the Transformer Vac into a hand-held vacuum with shoulder strap - making this vacuum a 2-in-1. Great for use on carpets and bare floors with tools conveniently stored on-board.\n\n \n

Filter Smells, Auto Order "free" but come too often
| Author's Rating: |

Pros: Light, Quick, HEPA filter, Hose function easy to use
Cons: Smells during use, HEPA filters not in stores.
The Bottom Line:
It's a worthwhile alternative if you don't want to get a Dyson, but expect to keep paying for filter replacements.
I have a Dyson and LOVE it, but I needed something to use exclusively for the pet area. I like the light weight, hose attachments and maneuverability of this stick vac. The quick-to-detach hose makes for a shorter cleaning time, although the hose is short. The only problem I found is with the replaceable HEPA filter. Because it has to deal with hair, food and litter, the filter picks up odors quickly. No matter how many times you tap the filter, it still has dust in the grooves. I even rinsed it like the directions say, and dipped it in baking soda water, but it still smells like a wet dog when being used. The odor fills the house, and it takes at least an hour to dissipate. To my dismay, replacement HEPA filters are not sold in stores. You have to go to the manufacturers website and sign up for a subscription. You give the manufacturer your credit card, and they mail you a "free" filter every month when you pay shipping ($6.95). Any change in the mailing frequency requires you to pay an additional fee of $2.95. You still have to get the monthly shipment in order for them to be "free". Not happy about that! I don't use it often enough to warrant replacing the filter that often.
