You really can't find a better vacuum for the money. Sure, you can spend WAY more money on a machine that SHOULD clean better than this Eureka, however, I am hard-pressed to find that machine! First of all, when this machine has a new bag in it and a new HEPA filter, watch out! When you turn the machine on in the "floor" mode, it makes this low roar. It truly is quiet, however, it just sounds MEAN! With the amount of suction that this machine has, coupled with its superb rotating brush, your carpets will look AMAZING! Suction with the tools is great too! When you turn the dial to the "hose" mode, you hear the fan motor pick up rpm's and go up in pitch, but it's pulling air through that hose like a demon! The hose is a stretch hose that is attached to the bottom of the machine, which eliminate tipping. The hose is also clear, so clogs are no worries. The tubing on the side of the machine is also clear AND removable should an object become lodged. This machine is super easy to push because the rotating brush helps pull it forward, however, it isn't as easy to pull backwards. I will sacrifice this effort because I KNOW it's cleaning and cleaning well. There is a lever on the base of the machine that will allow you to turn the rotating brush off for your hard floors. Also, the belt is a "long-life" design and isn't made of rubber. It is made of a fiberglass/nylon material and doesn't stretch. The only drawback to this vacuum initially is the replaceable HEPA filter. They are $19 a pop and need to be replaced after 6 bag changes. And with the way this vacuum picks up, you'll be changing bags often. I have found a solution to the HEPA filter though. Buy the washable HEPA filter $40 and when it becomes dirty, just rinse it with water, let it dry and you are all set to start cleaning again! I recommend this vacuum to ANYONE who wants a vacuum that is VERY capable and affordable.
