I bought the Escort Solo S2 because I crushed the power cord end for my Beltronics 955 in the door. Since I've had the 955 for a number of years I decided to treat myself to a belated birthday present with a new radar detector without a power cord.

The first thing I love about it is there is no power cord dangling across the dash. The second thing I love about it is there are very few false alarms when in Auto mode. My last radar detector always had false alarms no matter what setting it was on. A plus on my last detector was it's detection range. I'm still evaluating the Solo S2 rangewise.

Programming the Escort Solo S2 is pretty easy if you follow the directions in the manual. Hold the Mode button and one of the volume buttons for 2 seconds and it will go into programming mode. By default, the SWS and VG2 are set to off in the radar detector. Since radar detectors aren't illegal in Colorado I left it at the default setting.

I've had a couple laser hits that I suspect might be a false alarm or the cop was hidden well. It also has blipped (not a full detection) once before I saw the cop car. The cop was in the median facing the oncoming traffic coming over a hill.

Unfortunately I had to stop driving for a bit since I broke my ankle. I'll update my review when I have more driving time with it.
