Pros: Price, ease of operation, 38-380mm zoom and shutter speed range.
Cons: Flash unit opens automatically and have to close it manually.
The Bottom Line:
Don't look anywhere else. Friend has a Nikon digital and z740 does almost everything his does except changing lenses.
Price, extensive options, accepts filters. Everything about it is great!
Purchased in early February, 2006. Best purchase I have ever made for the quality I got. This is an outstanding camera. easy operation, easy controls. Large number of setting combinations. Price, under $300.00 for basic unit.
The 10x zoom means, equal to a 38-380mm lens. Amazing. This also has digital zoom in addition to the optical. It came with a hood that accepts the 55mm filters you have collected with your film camera. I have been photographing for 40 years and would not consider a digital until they came out with one comparable to my Minolta. This exceeds the Minolta. It has a view finder, electronic, and lcd viewing panel. You CAN see the focusing as it occurs, either constant focusing or by depressing the shutter release. Color and resolution is great, shutter speed up to 1/2000. Reviewing picture is easy. Downloading is a snap. Download with a usb cable or purchase the accessary kit for about $195.00 and get a memory stick, 512 memory card, camera bag, uv filter. ( I already have the polarizer from my Minolta as well as other filters). Recently I was traveling in my car, wife driving. Sun was setting. We have a wood cross that hangs by a cord, hanging on the rear view mirror. I took a picture of the cross through the windshield with sun behind the cross. Took 4 shots and the second one was perfect. It is an amazing camera. Also takes video. The memory card is easy to use.
you get over 200 shots at 4.3mp. Can be enlarged up to 20x40. Continuos focusing or by depressing shutter release.
Light weight and fits hand well. If you are down loading from built in memory, just plug in usb cord and use easy share software. If you use the card, insert it into the memory stick, and plug stick into usb plug on your computer. I have already recommended it to friends and family. Even my wife loves it and uses it.Their are too many good things to include in this review.
