The KODAK EASYSHARE Z740 camera is ideal for people who want to get close to their subject, but enjoy the simplicity of a point-and-shoot digital camera. Its powerful 10X (38 – 380 mm equivalent) KODAK RETINAR aspheric, all-glass optical zoom lens can quickly zero in on a small object or distant scene, picking up the detail, color, and textures that a less powerful lens would overlook. The 1.8-inch, high-resolution, indoor/outdoor LCD screen and electronic viewfinder are designed for previewing a scene, or reviewing and sharing shots just taken. Minimize

It has taken me several years to upgrade to a digital camera, I wanted to get the best buy for my money and still get great pictures. I also work in a photo lab so that has given me extensive time to play with the cameras and to see what pictures come from each camera. Part of my job is to test each camera each week and to see what is great about it and what the quality is of the pictures. Only after compiling all of this information did I decide on the Kodak Z740. Overall is has a great zoom, the quality of the pictures are outstanding. I have set up a gallery at a different website where if you want you can check out the pictures taken: http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/free/gallery.asp?mem=165932.

I have done amateur work for years but with this camera my work is looking more like a pro. I thoroughly love my camera and would recommend this to anyone wanting to take great pictures and not spend an arm and a leg. Of course anything to show off my children will be gladly accepted. I have done a wedding with this camera now and the pictures were great, the bride was amazed at how cheap I was but how great the pictures were.

The camera itself is very lightweight. I have had several people comment that it's larger than a normal digital camera, but with this zoom you can't get all of that into a small palm size camera. The zoom sold me at first then all the features after that kept me reeled in. From the menu you can take antique pictures, black and white pictures or even adjust to your own personal settings. I love the fact that you can change in the middle of shooting to something else. It has many settings for shooting modes to more adequately compensate for your shots. The action mode is best for sports, landscape for those mountain shots, self portrait for those pictures you take of yourself possible a passport picture. There is even a night mode setting where it will give it an additional burst of flash for those night pictures that are always dark. Or you can choose the scene mode and go into a lot more automatic settings of what you are shooting. You can also do burst mode where you can take either the first four shots or the last four shots of whatever you are aiming at. There is also a timer on the camera to try and get those family shots. The flash is adjustable also. You can set it to be off, red eye reduction or just auto or on. It's really a great camera overall with so much you can do with it.

The screen is 1.8 inches and I think a great size, you can still flip back to the viewfinder if you aren't into using the screen to set up your pictures. I go back and forth on it and love the versitility.

I do recommend not using normal AA batteries inside of this camera, it will eat them in 30 minutes. We bought rechargable batteries and they last for days. The set we bought also has a car charger so that is very convenient for me. This way you always have power.

I love my camera and recommend it to everyone and anyone that needs a great camera to preserve those memories. Those little ones don't stay small forever and with the movie mode you can record clips of them doing those cute things that they do. I have a 1G Sd card in my camera and can record up to 1 hour of movie on it. I download mine every night to my computer with software that is provided and easy to use. Then clear my card and start over the next day. I then take all the pictures from a specified period of time and burn them to a disk. All of this can be done from the kodak software. So have fun and picture your kids on this camera.
