Pros: WOW... with everything but the lens. But for the price, still think its really good.
Cons: occasional freeze up on the auto focus
The Bottom Line:
I need more lens, I need more cleaning supply, I hope I don't break this camera anytime soon. Too Nice
I've been debating over the Nikon D70 and Canon 20D. But from all the reviews I've read, I decided to go with the 20D. I've had this camera for a few months now and this thing blows me away.
What I liked the most about this camera is the CMOS censor. Man, at 1600 ISO, i took night shots of race cars on the track at about 1/100th of a second at NIGHT and they came out sharp with very little noise. With the Nikon D70, anything above 400 ISO is unacceptable.
One thing I do regret is selling my lenses. I sold all my lenses a few years ago. So I am back to step one. So in addition to the 20D, I also bought a 75-300 IS which was cool. But for any beginner, If you are really serious about wanting to take photos in the long run, even if its just a hobby that you do for fun, I would highly recommend spending the extra money and getting the L series professional Lenses. You'll be happier in the long run.
Also If you cant afford L Lens, also keep in mind 3rd party mfrs do also make a few really nice lenses too. I bought a Sigma wide-angle lens for the same price of a canon lens with same specs but the Sigma lens was able to take much sharper images. And on top of that, the buffer memory, burst mode shots, fast and more accurate focusing (compared to 10D) and the insane amounts features included in this camera is great for beginners or amateurs, and acceptable for even semi-professionals. I just hope I don't start wanting something equivalent to the 1DS Mark II in a couple years. I'm already beyond broke as it is.
