Dodge Durango features big-rig looks to back up its off-road capability. The Durango is bigger than the Ford Explorer and other so-called compact sport-utilities, but smaller than Ford Expedition or Chevy Tahoe. It offers more room than the Explorer and can seat six people. Yet its more maneuverable than the Expedition. The Durango is a good choice for large families. Its theater-style seating arrangement gives rear passengers a view of the road ahead. The Durango is also a good choice for people who tow boats or other light to medium-sized trailer loads. Theres lots of power available from the big 5.9-liter V8, while a new 4.7-liter V8 and automatic transmission combination promise greater refinement. Dodge revised the front suspension and steering system on 4WD Durango models for 2000 in an effort to improve ride quality and responsiveness. Minimize

My parents recently purchased a 2000 Dodge Durango from the local Dodge dealership in my hometown. I had the privilege of driving it for a little over a week when they went on vacation. I fell in love with it and wish I could afford one for myself.

There are many pros to my parent's Durango. Here are some of them:

It feels like you are driving a sports car. The Durango actually handles very well for an automobile this big. It also rides very smoothly. It is nothing like the SUVs of old that had a very bumpy ride.

The seats are very comfortable. The leather seats are all power and are made to fit your butt and back. I love the power seats because they will move to fit anyone. The seats are cushioned very well and are comfortable for driving on long trips.

There are stereo controls on the steering wheel. This may be a surprise to some of you who have a Durango. My parents didn't know this until after I had driven it for a few days. The stereo controls are hidden behind the steering wheel. The allow you to change stations and increase or decrease the volume without taking your hands off of the wheel. This is a very important safety feature in my epinion.

It has an 8 cylinder engine. The Durango is fairly lightweight for a large SUV. The V-8 engine give it plenty of power. You can easily get out into to a busy street with this vehicle. It has 235 horsepower coming from the 4.7 liter engine.

Then there are many other options such as...
1. Rear A/C control.
2. A multitude of cup holders.
3. A third seat that is removable.
4. An in-dash CD player.
5. Tilt steering.
6. Cruise control.

As you can see, there are many, many pros to this automobile. The only con that I could really come up with is the area around the back seat. The seat in the very back is a pro in that you can fit three people back there. It is also a con because there is very little leg room and it is very uncomfortable.

I give the 2000 Dodge Durango a rating of a 5 because it is a very nice vehicle that has many extra options. It is very comfortable to drive and has plenty of power.

I would recommend this to anyone needing an automobile larger than the average two seater car or SUV. It seats 5 comfortably and 8 with three be somewhat uncomfortable. It seats 8 very easily for short trips to the ball game on Saturday or to church on Sunday.
